Green tea – Can cause Gas in the body

Green Tea is ‘Vata Prakruti’. Most of green tea is air-ether and it aggravates the ‘Vata’ in the body, as a result of which digestion-power increases! However, most people have bodies that are a combination of Vata and Pitta, or Vata andKalpha, etc. For these body types, when green tea is consumed on an empty stomach, it aggravates the ‘Vata’ in the body! Air-Ether is responsible for the digestion and movements in the body. If green tea is consumed on an empty stomach, it aggravates gas because of its ‘Vata’ characteristics! This results in tightening of the stool to an extent that if someone’s suffering from loose motion, green tea can be given instead of the medicine to tighten the stool. Green Tea can also improve mental alertness and thinking. It is also considered for weight-loss and to treat stomach disorders like vomiting and diarrhoea, curing headache and to counter bone-loss (osteoporosis).Green teas contain 2% to 4% caffeine, that positively affects thinking and alertness, and improves the functioning of the brain. The small content of caffeine stimulates the nervous system, heart and muscles by aiding the release of certain chemicals in the brain called ’neurotransmitters’.
