17779_10151429285617804_1899528802_nYou might say I was born to be heavy. Early on, I was compulsive about food… snacks were always around and my habit reared its ugly head again. I entered a cycle of eating, gaining weight, feeling depressed, and eating more. I had to change..As an adult, my weight yo-yoed, until I became 104 and decided it was time to get healthy.

The Change

1) First 3 months

I joined gym and started swimming, jogging, badminton, hot yoga, power yoga, cycling and liquid diet.  I was in far too much pain to work out. The setback was disheartening, but instead of dealing with my sadness, I threw my energy into taking care of my health.

First 3 month – i was on liquid diet. I wanted fast result so i worked out 8 hours a day. Nothing to chew at all… i had fruit and vegetable juices.

During weight loss massage is an important thing as it prevent marks and stress on skin.

2) next 4 months

i shifted to protein diet.

only fruits, vegetables and just proteins. Pulses boiled or salad. I consumed protein shakes  in the evening between 6 to 7 pm.

Instead of sugar i use splenda. for next 4 months i continued only on fruits, vegetables, proteins and pulses.

Slowly in small quantity i started adding ice cream – 1 or 2 spoons ( not scoops ), chocolates – 1 piece, fried – 1 piece, etc. Its just for tasting. let the taste buds get satisfied.

“I Finally Put Myself First”

i still continued the same routine of exercise then.

3) NOW

Gradually i have reduced weight in 1 year with dedication to work out and controlling  bad food habit.

The Lifestyle:

1)i have adopted exercise and proper healthy diet as a part of life.

2) I kept myself motivated eg ,  i used to hang a lower size jeans as i achieve the set target size jeans, i went out only when i achieved the target jean’s size, etc.

The ‘best’ exercise is one that engages you physically, mentally, emotionally, and on levels even deeper than that. It is something that you look forward to on a daily basis, it is the reason you eat dinner on time, it is the reason you hit the bed early. It is the reason you wake up even before your alarm goes off.

3) My target at present is to maintain my present weight.

My Top Tips

“I Can Wear Anything I Want!”

Don’t eliminate favorites…just cut back on them. I’d enjoy bread and pasta in moderation—but to control my tendency to overeat, I wouldn’t eat them past 3 pm.

Eat often…to help maintain your energy levels. Just keep portion sizes small.

Just exercise…even if you don’t feel like it. You can’t sit around and do nothing and expect the pounds to roll off!

Use a sound track…to pump up your workout.

Remember…the benefits. I used to have heel spurs that were unbearable because of the extra weight I was carrying on my frame. Now I can walk anywhere I want without pain!) dont wait for extreme situation.

Start doing exercise today and keep small aims. Start losing when you are over weight not when you are obese.

don’t waste time in self-loathing; move on to eating nutritious, easy-on-the-stomach meals. And yes, work on getting restful sleep so that the stomach feels well rested and not toxic or acidic. Getting peaceful sleep and regularising your bedtime should be a greater priority than counting calories post-Diwali. Nothing allows your stomach and metabolism to recharge like sleeping does.

Stay fit stay happy.

love

Jiyal 🙂
